We enjoyed our evening at this restaurant on Friday last week. A group of us decided to go after work on Friday, we shared some appetizers and a few cocktails and stayed quite late as they had a great Latin band playing. We kept eyeing everyones main courses as they looked fantastic... I think we'll come again for dinner another night.
This is a beautiful restaurant located in the suburbs of Ottawa. They have a lovely patio, we frequent it on a weekly basis during the summertime. The food is wonderful, the mussels are an all time favourite as is the rack of lamb. They have a great wine list and the owner, Frank, is terribly charming....
We relied on a previous restaurantica review and were not disappointed. First time in Ottawa and travelling with the family (kids 10 and 7) we wanted a good Italian place and we truly found one. Even our usually picky-eater-10-year-old tried something completely new and the kitchen accomodated all their requests. Needless to say she absolutely loved it. We can highly recommend this place, its food, its service and the wonderful owner, thank you Frank!
We visit La Piazza regularly, not only for the wonderful Italian dishes, but also for the great bands that they have on the weekend. They have a wonderful latino band that plays, it's very upbeat and a nice change from boring dining room music. It's always nice to get up once in a while and have an affter dinner dance. We've taken out of town guests here on several occasions and they rave about the food. Everything's very fresh and always tasty.
After doing some research on La Piazza and looking at the menu on-line, we made a reservation for what we hoped would be a romantic and delicious birthday dinner, and I'm pleased to say that it exceeded our expectations! The ambiance was warm and inviting and as we looked around at the other tables (the place was fully booked) it was clear that everyone there was really enjoying their meals, their wine and the service. Nice business casual dress seemed to be the rule of the day, although several men wore jackets and ties. I'd say that the menu was highly influenced by the Abruzzo region of Italy with wonderful fresh flavours, the kitchen managed to keep the fare authentic. The wine list is great and reasonably priced with lots of choices from Italy and from the California Coastline. We shared an order of mussels to start, it was cooked perfectly, delicious, and so good that we used the bread to sop up every last bit of the sauce. My wife had braised beef ravioli which was the special and I had the rack of lamb. The ravioli was fresh and delicious and the tender, flavorful lamb simply fell off the bone, the roasted potato and asparagus rounded out a totally 'comfort food' meal. We agreed that this was one of those great 'OMG' dinners that we'd remember for awhile. Kudos to the kitchen staff! Our server was very professional and pleasant without becoming too familiar: her timing on bringing courses and filling wine glasses, etc. couldn't have been better. We will certainly visit La Piazza again on our next trip to Ottawa.
