Little pleases Tessuti Venezia’s owner Dominic Stalteri more than having the chance to talk with customers who make a living using his wares for their businesses. Whoever the client is, they share with Dominic a love of the potential of good-quality materials. “There’s a boutique on Ossington, for example,” says Dominic, “where the lady makes one-of-a-kind clothing in three sizes. She comes to me regularly for supplies and I so enjoy chewing the fat with her about the latest stock we have.”
Since his parents opened the store in 1962, Dominic’s family has made a point of getting the most recent fabrics in as soon as they are available. “This is so our customers can have the benefit of new fashions,” says Dominic. “We won’t wait until the fabric prices are reduced then stock them. That’s not our way.”
