For centuries almost all Alsatian wines were blended; not until the beginning of the 20th century did Alsace start to produce wines from single grape varieties. Today the overwhelming majority of Alsace wines are Pinot Blanc (Klevner), Muscat, Riesling, Tokay d’Alsace (Pinot Gris), Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Noir (The only grape yielding rose or red wine in Alsace). Alsatian wines are characterized by forward fruit, rich and complex body and are flavourful in the mouth. Wines that match foie gras to a full variety of fish and seafoods.

The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes that make up the Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon blend are grown on two estate vineyards. The Cabernet Sauvignon is grown at the Oak Cross Vineyard in the Oakville district of Napa Valley, which is renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon and produces wines that are full, lush and very elegant. The Merlot is grown at the Hillview Vineyard south of Yountville, where Merlot develops a wonderful earthy firmness that blends gracefully with the Cabernet from the Oakville District.

Enormously complex, firm and tightly wound, with ripe, firm tannin and a wide range of rich concentrated flavours of cherry, wild berry, plum, cedar, coffee and spice. Shows remarkable finesse and polish. W.S. 96

Vineland Estates Winery, known as “Ontario’s Most Picturesque Winery” is
situated on the prestigious bench of the Niagara Escarpment, overlooking
Lake Ontario. Producing great wines begins first in our vineyards, planted
with noble vinifera varieties by wine maker, Brian Schmidt, who has taken
Vineland Estates wines to international acclaim. In recent years, 250,000
new vines were imported from France along with some of the best wine
making equipment in the world to help create a formula for success.
