Nuff respect!
Went here for 3 reasons. 1, I love a new restaurant. 2, I love BBQ, and it is hard to come by in London, and 3, my friend Mike went here and loved it. Seemed like a surefire hit! Well, it was! We arrived at 6:30, and the bar was full, with about half the tables full in the dining room (a good sign). We were met by a hostess who showed us to our table forthwith. Our waitress arrived shortly afterward and explained how things went down, smoke n bones style. This place is huge. It is like a lodge or huge chalet with all wooden interior and eclectic southern decor. It was dimly lit and the music reflected the blues and bluegrass styles. The ribs come with just a dry rub, and you get to choose from a different array of sauces. So we looked at the menu and chose dinner for 2, ribs. This is a massive amount of food, and perfect for 2 people, but I was a glutton and ordered an app, the garlic bread. My partner had a house salad. The garlic bread was good, and came with a bruscetta style chutney with it. The bread they use is really light and fluffy, so it was really good, but it did feel a bit out of touch with what the rest of the menu reflected. Our mains arrived. A massive portion of ribs, fried chicken, pulled pork, slaw, potato wedges, and a corn muffin each. The muffin was buttery and savoury sweet. The potato wedges were crispy and well seasoned. The slaw was sweet and added a cool hint to an otherwise warm and spicy meal. I really liked the fried chicken. The breast and leg were huge, really meaty, and were crispy and savoury. The pulled pork was sweet and melt in your mouth, and the ribs were well seasoned with dry rub, and were fall off the bone delicious. I liked the 4 sauces that you can play around with too, so one bite you can have one flavour experience and the next one is totally different. I think my favourite sauce was named with the word simple in it, though I forget the whole name. We finished with peach cobbler, warmed and topped with whipped cream. Delicious. Generous portions, priced well, good service, great food. I'll be returning!
