This restaurant has cornered the market in guelph which is why I think they get a lot of return patrons, even if the experience is not pleasant. I wish that the servers could actually do their job and serve, instead of the patrons having to ask for their water, coffee etc. The service is slow and rude, the seating is limited. There is definetly an attitude surrounding the staff, those who fit the desired image are treated with much respect, where as those who do not are left to wait. I have felt that I am inconveniencing the staff when I arrive, which is a very unpleasant feeling. The owner is lovely, everyone else seems to have a chip on their shoulder.

I love the caesar salad and the soup du jour when...

I love the caesar salad and the soup du jour when I come in. The place is a neat little hang out...but the service is awful. The staff act like they are annoyed to serve you, as if the place is some kind of cool hipster club that they don't want you to join, with the exception of one nice girl with brown hair and a labret piercing (don't know her name). The coffee is good...but don't expect any refills...unless you have time to wait all day.

food is okay but nothing special, and portions are tiny. they have the worst coffee i've ever tasted. service is horrible. i've been here a number of times, and i don't think i've ever gotten a glass of water without asking at least 3 times. coffee refills also very hard to get because it is almost impossible to get server's attention. the only reason i go there is that it is vegetarian, and the only cafe of its sort in guelph. any other similar place in any town would be so much better

I have been going for years because I work nearby...

I have been going for years because I work nearby but my opinion of it has deteriorated big time. My biggest issue is the lack of cleanliness - I think the city needs to investigate this place. There are filthy dish clothes laying around that are used to clean dishes and tables, not to mention that nobody appears to be washing their hands EVER. In the summer the fly problem is outrageous. The staff that work there leave a lot to be desired. Only in Guelph would someone with filthy disgusting dreads (and they don't wear hairnets!!) and poor hygiene be allowed to serve people food! I have seen nicer clothes and appearance on people coming out of the drop in centre! Most of them have the worst attitudes I have ever seen, so I never tip when I go. I tip people who earn tips. The prices have gone up quite a bit since I first started to so their lunch special is not the value it used to be. If it wasn't for their lattes I would never go. Their muffins cost $150 and they are the tiniest things I have ever seen! ?and they don't look appetizing. They are lucky to be located in a university town full of tree huggers.. This place would not survive in any other city!!!

this place has a great location and a warmth due...

this place has a great location and a warmth due to its architecture. the food i found was average, the salads are great however. the staff are embarrassing in their attitude, and service. i wonder what the owner is thinking! i would never bring colleagues here for lunch mostly due to the slow, rude service. we would never have the time to wait. as well i find this place was in need of a good clean.
