Whether you grew up in a Ukrainian household or not, there’s a good chance that you have always loved devouring a plate of perogies and sausage. These Edmonton restaurants dish out cabbage rolls and pyrizhky just like your baba used to make. There aren't many Ukrainian restaurants in the city, which makes us appreciate these spots all the more.

They also have plenty of fresh, locally grown produce, canned goods and all the exotic candy you could ever want. The section of frozen eastern European treats includes perogies and varenyky, which are stuffed dumplings with meat. The staff members are Russian but they all speak English and are very friendly.
Uncle Ed's Restaurant

While they are known for their sausage and perogies, the part deli, part restaurant also prepares amazing cabbage rolls and soup. In addition to their incredible Ukrainian lunch fare, they also serve crepes, pepperoni and other luncheon meats. It’s a popular lunch spot, so grab a table early and come prepared to chow down, then take home some sausage from the deli for the next time your craving strikes.
Taste Of Ukraine
40-516 St Albert Trail, St. Albert AB T8N 5Z1This family-run Ukrainian restaurant started out in Edmonton in 2004 but moved to St. Albert in 2011. They continue to celebrate their Ukrainian heritage and love of good food in the new location. Favourite appetizers include the deep fried mini perogies, stuffed with potato and cheddar, and the baklazhan rolls, a traditional dish of grilled eggplant slices rolled up with a garlic mushroom filling. They also sell frozen cabbage rolls, perogies and pyrizhky, buns filled with potato, to take home. They even have some celiac-friendly options on the menu.

It’s a good place to get a quick fix of Ukrainian food when you’re out shopping or simply don’t feel like cooking at home. After all, if they’re willing to make their delicious perogies and cabbage rolls by hand, why should you bother with all that work?
Baba's Own Ukrainian Food

You can order all of your favourites, such as perogies, cabbage rolls and nalysnyky (cottage cheese filled crepes) online and pick them up at the reception desk of St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre. Perogy flavours range from blueberry, apricot and cherry to cheddar and kobasa and cottage cheese and dill.
