Originally owned by Mike Walton, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Shakey’s was coined after the hockey player’s nickname. Over the years, ownership of the legendary Bloor West Village hot spot has changed, but has always kept its famous name.
Brothers Rob and Chris Lundy are now making a name for themselves as the faces behind the bar and restaurant. Their grandfather, Michael Lundy, is renowned for coming up with what is now the Drake Hotel, in 1949. With an impressive lineage behind them, the Lundy brothers have continued the tradition and are providing patrons with a legendary experience of their own.
“My brother purchased the place with the intentions that I would one day be manning the kitchen here,” says Chris. “The time has come and I continually strive to bring fresh and new ideas to the Shakey’s menu.”

I was in Shakey's a year ago and it has completely changed, I visited recently with some girlfriends and we had a fantastic meal. The owner has renovated the entire place to give it a 2010 pub look and has still kept the theme of a sports bar. Good job on the reno's, the menu looks great with some of the typical sports pub food such as nachos, hamburgers and wings. However the rest of the menu is quite amazing, from my understanding the waitress mentioned that Chris is a new addition to the staff and is the brother of the owner. He actually is coming from fine dining and is now helping run the kitchen. I will be back again and this time were bringing our husbands.
Beer is amazing, local brews, and kept fresh and clean (rare in the Village) Love the Jammy chef, need to bring back the Rotis and Red Stripe nights. The red head manager/server (Joanne I think) is reason enough to go, remembers your drink everytime. Tequilla ceasers. Atmosphere has improved from the old days, cleaner and all the drunks are gone. My wife and I are there every Friday, if not myself more
Excellent service, and fresh brew. A bit dark inside, but pleasant. Our server was very friendly.
Wings were great, beer on tap was spectacular and the mill st draft was the flavour of the night. Great little place with a nice feeling about it and the service which surpasses the rest of the bars in the area was fantastic. Leaf hockey was on earlier in the night and then the UFC pay-perview which packed the place(there were no seats to sit in) I've never seen a place get packed so quickly for an event and they have it monthly. I'll be back!!
Showed up around 7:30, the place was relatively empty (4-6 people) considering it was a Saturday night. Took about 5 minutes for a waitress to even take our drink order. After she did, she couldn't properly pour the beers we had ordered. They were half foam. Then I got a look at the KM, who clearly isn't a fan of showering and likely doesn't own a toothbrush. It almost made me regret placing a food order, but it was just wings and fries, so I thought "Whatever. He can't screw it up that bad." I was wrong. The wings were sub par, and the fries seemed as though they had been cooked an hour earlier and got thrown back in the fryer for a reheat or microwaved. This was not my first visit to Shakey's, though. I had gone to a few UFC events last year, when they had a cute cook who was also a fighter and would mingle with the crowd during the event, and educated girls like me who don't know the sport. But he's not there anymore!!! When I asked about him, they were very rude, saying "he wanted more money." Seems like they should have given it to him. Because without him, this place isn't much.
Shakey's has this warm and welcoming feeling which also has alot of history behind it. The service is great and the food is what you would expect at your local neighbourhood sports bar.
Just dropped in for a quick bite and ended up staying for five hours. Staff and food was engaging. Great atmosphere (look and feel). What more can you ask for... Go Leafs Go!!! (and Shakey's too!!!)
Great spot!! And the characters at the bar are so interesting and engaging! I can't wait to get back there
The place needs a thorough clean-up. Sub-par food (burnt nachos), ok service, and flat beer. I won't be back.
I went on opening night and I have to say that I was disappointed... Not much food (which tasted horrible), the waiters were rude, and the environment was just okay Not recommended
Amazing Food, Great Selection! Very clean, and organized, great hockey memorabilia, a place for the true Toronto Maple Leaf Fan!
