Hyland Family Restaurants

We were seated and waited 7 minutes while others around us were served...got our coffee and our food came quickly. Food was very good but service needs a lot of improvement. Had to hold up our cups for more coffee and no table checks were done. Sat for another 10 minutes with empty plates in front of us and 3 servers passed without taking empty plates. Had to ask for our bill. Overall food excellent but I think this is where service staff comes to die....smile ladies!!!!

Only true family restaurant in town

I brought my family to the Hyland this week and as always the food was excellent (and too much!) and the service was very friendly. Food is always delivered promptly, the restaurant is always clean, and overall, it is just a nice meal out with the family. I definitely recommend to any families visiting Port Perry. Us locals don't need convincing.

Love This Place

We love this place! Always yummy. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner! Kids love the chicken fingers and pasta, I love the hyland burger. Hubby loves the club sandwich. OOhhh and the home fries ... rubs tummy:) The staff is always friendly the place is always clean. Thanks for the good eats.

GREAT FOOD GREAT SERVICE VERY CLEAN!!!! THAT IS WHAT I LOOK FOR WHEN I GO OUT TO EAT. THE PRICES ARE FAIR AND THE FOOD IS REALLY REALLY GOOD . I HAVE TRIED SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. NO MATTER WHAT TIME I GO I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED MY MEAL AND THE SERVICE. .ALSO THE PARTY I AM WITH HAS ALSO ENJOYED IT EACH AND EVERY TIME. SO IF YOU WANT CLEAN FRIENDLY GREAT FOOD I WOULD SAY THR HYLAND FAMILY RESTURANT ALL THE WAY!!!!!!1

My mother-in-law and I went for lunch today and it confirmed that I will never be returning. After waiting over half an hour for our meal (when there were only 4 other tables there - and 3 waitresses), I had the fish and chips. Not too shabby, but my fish was definitely not fresh. The fries were nothing wonderful either. My mother-in-law had grilled halibit that was disgustingly rubbery and had no taste, and the "greek" potatoes were definitely over done. Our waitress had a serious attitude problem and didn't come to check on us the entire meal. The "cheesecake" we had for desert tasted like cream cheese mashed together with cheap whipcream. Absolutely disgusting! To top it all off, the place was extremely dirty. The tables were not completely washed, there were crumbs all over most of the booths, and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week. Trust me, if you go, you will be disappointed.

Having spent much time in George and Bill's Hyland Restaurant several years ago, we sure know where to get the best Fish and Chips, and Chicken Salad Sandwich in Ontario. Thanks to our great waitress, Kathy, for still being there. P.S. If I left my change purse there, could you please hold on to it for me, Kathy, til the next time we see you, thanks.

The fish looked huge and delicious, unfortunately when we got it home, we had to throw it out because it had melted the plastic trays it was served in, which destroyed our appetite. I would recommend they not put food straight out of the deep fryer into a styrofoam box.

The fries were slightly undercooked and dry on the inside while being quite greasy on the outside. They were large and were more like wedges than french fries. The halibut was a good quality piece of fish, but the batter was far too greasy. When combined with the greasy fries, it was altogether too much grease. The batter on the fish was puffy. It gave the illusion of getting a huge piece of fish, but it was just air when you cut into it.

We recieved our drinks first. My son found a grain of rice as well as some sort of seed half way through his shake we returned it for another one. Waited thirty five minutes for our order. At that time we were told that the order had been misplaced or was not placed for some reason. Decided at that point that we would pay for our drinks and left. To the waitress's credit she felt bad about the whole ordeal and didn't even want to accept the tip. Will not be returning

The breakfast was appalling! I ordered the peameal bacon, home fries, eggs and toast. The only things edible were the toast and eggs. The peameal bacon was rancid and the home fries were obviously from the day before and reated with water and burnt! Absolutely ruined my Sunday. I will never go there again and I will ensurethat I steer all my friends clear of that place.

I've visited the Hyland many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Awesome family restaurant. They have a varied menu which ensures that there's something for everyone. Service is always fast and friendly, regardless as to whether it's a quiet period in the restaurant or one of their really busy times. Food is plentiful and tasty--excellent value considering the reasonable prices. Particular favorites: their Russian vegetable soup, Greek omelettes and Chicken Parmesan dinner (big enough that you'll take half home for another meal!)

This is one of the best family restaurants I have eaten at in years. All the food is fresh and home made, (no precooked garbage) and comes to the table hot. It is a family run restaurant and the service is impecable, a wonderful atmosphere. They also have the full menu for take out, and call ahead. I have frequented this restaurant and recommend it to all who throughly enjoy good food, good atmosphere and perfect service. It is not licensed which is a plus for a family environment,

We had a great time, with promt service, the portions were more than enough without appetizers, and everything was yummy (especially the fish!). It's not the ritz, but it's clean and friendly with down-home food -- perfect for when you don't feel like cooking or paying too much for an elaborate meal. We will definitely return!!

Really pretty bad, two of us ate there, first dish, tons of boiled then fried tasteless potatoes throw on your dish, with overfried eggs, and the bacon is second grade fatty. Second meal was suppose to be eggs benedict, awful, can say no more. Guess ok for an inexpense meal and if you are in a hurry, it was served quickly.
