We have gone there quite a few times now and I have to say, The Cedar Tree is one of North Bay's BEST places to eat!! The friendly and inviting staff (we've only had the pleasure of being served by the males) are wonderful! They didn't have any of their Baklava left, however, the owner went above and beyond to make us some dessert anyway! The food is delicious! We've tried a few different things now, but my favorite has to be the Shawarma! YUMMY!! We truly enjoy eating here, and have even started cooking Lebanese foods at home thanks to our experiences there. Thank you so much for bringing The Cedar Tree here, we will see you again soon. If you haven't tried it, please, do so. You get quite a lot for your money as well!
I eat regularly at the Cedar Tree, and am consistently satisfied. All the sandwiches and platters are excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful, and service is usually very quick. Seating can be somewhat limited sometimes, but it's still great for takeout.
This place reminds me of a typical small local fast food restaurant you would find on a side street off the beaten path in the Middle East. A map of Lebanon graces the otherwise bare walls, while the wonderful Lebanese music plays in the background. Service was somewhat friendly and fast. Chicken shawarma was a little on the dry side but good, dips were slightly bland and under seasoned, tabbouleh salad was excellent, the crust on the falafel was over cooked and hard to eat, the vegetarian kebbeh was wonderful and full of flavour while the stuffed grape leaves were not. Although the food was a hit and miss, overall it does it's job offering some culture inspired food in a city that needs more places like this.
Been to the Cedar Tree a few times now and this places never lets me down. The food is always amazing and the satff is super friendly. They are very accomadating to everyones needs. Two of my friends have alergies and the owner was able to tell them excatly what they can and can't have and even made them special dishes. Love the fact that I can see in the kitchen and see what the chefs are doing. The place is always clean, there is always nice lebanese music playing and the food is authentic, I only wish they would expand so that I can bring more people in.
I am constantly looking for excuses to the visit The Cedar Tree. The food is excellent, the staff is warm and friendly (especially Roger) and the prices are just right. I just wish there was more seating space as it is always busy when we go there for lunch or dinner.
I have eaten here twice. Both times at lunch. I think the prices are too low! Someone said high?? My sister ordered us the Lebanese platter and a few sides for lunch before Christmas. We were stuffed and everything was pretty delicious. The only thing I ever ate there which I wasn't crazy about was the lentil soup. I thought it lacked flavour and needs some inspiration.
Always a pleasure to visit this place! Its deffinitally becoming a regular hot spot for myself and a few friends. The food is always perfect, the staff are so friendly and accomodating, and each time I go, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. check it out, and youll be pleased :)
I visited the new lebanese restaurant this week, and was not sure what to expect from a lebanese restaurant in North Bay. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice feel to it, the staff where supper friendly and the food was great, I had the chicken shawarma deal and my friends both had the donair deal. my bill came up to $10.16 that is including a large sandwich, an order of rice and a pop. we finished off with a piece of baklava. it was truly delicious. It is nice to see something different and so fresh in North Bay.
My wife and I were excited that a Lebanese place finally opened in North Bay. The place was simply decorated, but very clean. At first look, the prices were a little higher than you'd expect if you've been to a typical Lebanese as you'd find in Ottawa. Regardless, we each ordered the Large Chicken Shawarma wraps, I made mine the platter. I chose the roasted potatoes as the side, and asked for my Shawarma to be made spicy as an option given to me. The total came to $20+ with a drink (just one drink). I paid by debit, as I was keying in my pin, the girl at the cash took the (empty) tip jar on the far side of the counter and set it solidly set it down right in front of me - i guess she was expecting a tip - I didn't because that was rude! The potatoes were dished into a tiny take out container - the size that are used for Baklava - about 3" x 3" and only half full - so maybe about 10-12 3/4" square pieces of potato. If you want garlic sauce for your potato - which is normally generously supplied, it was available at an extra charge! Then I noticed the Shawarmas being put together - they were smaller than a small you'd normally expect to get at a Shawarma place - a small exageration, but only a little bigger than a Snack Wrap. Now to the taste - firstly, not nearly enough garlic in the wraps - the chicken was also spiced too heavily with a clove type spice - so much so that it was an overpowering flavor. Very little chicken in the wrap - maybe less than a 1/4 breast worth. There weren't the usual toppings - I expected at least the lebanese pickled turnip. The potato were merely plain roasted potato no real seasoning (typically lebanese potato are seasoned with lemon and garlic) We had looked forward to trying this new restaurant, but were sadly disappointed. To the owner of The Cedar tree: please review your recipies and either lower your prices, or increase the serving portions.
went here with a friend to try the new restaurant on the block. first of all you dont get much food for your buck, second of all they do not give you options on your sandwich. i found a hair in my shawarma, and my chicken was dry, dont think ill be stopping here again. the service wasnt that great the servers are too young
