Many who get their hair styled by Valentin Yersian hug her after she works her magic; some even tear up with happiness after they receive a complete makeover. “It’s so good, it really is the best feeling,” says Valentin of VY Valentin Salon. “Doing hair and making my clients happy is my everything.”

This stylist extraordinaire has done hair for the Leo Awards, and her loyal clients include members of the fashion industry. While it was by no means an easy journey to becoming a salon owner in 2013, Valentin credits luck and having been surrounded by good people in helping her to overcome the obstacles along the way. However, it’s obvious that her talent, hard work and tenacious attitude have had a lot to do with it too. “Every morning, I come here, open the door and feel like I’m at my home from home,” says Valentin.

    I accidentally found Valentin's salon on a rainy July day in 2010. That changed my hair forever. No one else has touched it ever since. She is fantastic and even pros will stop me and compliment me. She is passionate about her work and it shows in the results. I currently live in Portland, OR and will travel to see her. She knows colour, texture, everything hair! She is a gem and I can't recommend her and sing her praises enough. I always leave looking beautiful! I love Valentin and her work!

    A gem of a salon - Valentin is wonderful!

    Valentin always makes me feel very welcome. She listened to my concerns about my hair and style and was able to interpret my wishes and made my hair look better than I could have imagined. She also did a wonderful job for my husband, and with my very particular daughter's hair for prom. I was amazed at the price difference (and service!) - wish I had switched years sooner! We moved to Victoria but still come to Valentin. Can't recommend enough! Her permanent makeup is terrific too!
