“If someone needs to get somewhere on the water, I’ll do it,” says Ray Martiniuk, owner of Steveston Water Taxi. “I do crew changes to commercial vessels in the north and south arm of the Fraser River. I run people over to cottages in the Gulf Islands. I run work crews up and down the Fraser River. I do work with engineering companies doing environmental work on the water.”
Amazingly, this only scratches the surface of the wide array of jobs Ray does with Steveston Water Taxi, which also includes location scouting for films, salvage and towing, and wildlife tours. Ray is open to any task that requires a boat, loving the variety of work and relishing every chance to be out on the water.
“There are a lot of different opportunities on the water,” Ray explains. “I’m not really too interested in just doing one thing. I’m not a guy who conforms well to repetition, so it really suits my personality type well.”
Eager to try new experiences and willing to do whatever his customers need to get the job done right, Ray has found himself in high demand as word has spread around Steveston that he’s got a boat for hire.
