Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant is a welcoming, family-oriented place where visitors are encouraged to relax and share in the experience of exploring the vibrant and exotic flavours of Ethiopian cuisine.
One of the restaurant's specialties is the Ethiopian standard, injera bread. This soft sourdough-risen bread is made from the teff grain, or "grass of love" as it is known. Owner Zeweu enthusiastically describes the many benefits of this spongy bread that he serves with every entree at Abyssinia. "It is very nutritious, high in fibre, gluten-free, and energy enhancing," he explains. This large crepe-like bread is perfect for soaking up the flavourful stew-like dishes the restaurant offers.
