Brittny Morrison, founder of Remember When Photography, first began snapping pictures at the age of 10. Though photography began as a hobby, eventually Brittny enrolled in courses to help with product shots and photo editing while she worked in marketing. Then motherhood called. Brittny planned on returning to her job after her maternity leave, but her baby changed those plans. “When I got my newborn photos back and saw how drastically my son had changed in a couple of months, I connected with how important it was to document that time and have professional photos that you’re proud of and can look back on for years,” says Brittany. “That’s when I decided to give photography my full attention.”
Connections from her former career along with friends she had made growing up in Calgary helped kick-start her network of clients for the new business. Brittny also partnered with wedding boutiques to be their exclusive photographer. “I have a list of partners that I am very picky with,” she says. “Especially if the clients don’t have a lot of money, it’s scary to trust that special day to someone you don’t know. So I have done that research.” Brittny believes photos are an investment – they’re not just images to admire but memories to cherish.
